One of the missions of ABDF.org is to act as a conduit and facilitator for foreigners to plan and run their projects in Batticaloa, using our local expertise and contacts.
Towards this, ABDF.org has been able to offer assistance, free of charge to the following groups and individuals:
- The Jephcott Charitable Trust (UK): The Jephcott Charitable Trust is refurbishing the school at Peryapullumalai, a war-destroyed village in the Districts’ interior. ABDF.org will act as Jephcott's local representative for the Periyapulmalai School Project. ETA: April 2009. Total cost: £13,400 (about $20,000US).
- Erroll Paulicille (Canada): Erroll is a Sri Lankan-born Canadian who has a particular interest in orphanages. He used his own money to fund several projects in 2008. Completed. Total Cost: $2,050Can (about $1,650US)
- Claire de Jong (Ireland): Claire is an old Batti veteran since tsunami times. She came to Batti for a visit in 2008, and ended up funding several projects. Completed. Cost: €2,000 (about $2,500US)
- Erroll Paulicille (Canada): In 2010 Errol returned to Batticaloa to build kitchens in two orphanages; Shakthi Grils' Home and Kathrovali Boys' Home, both located in Kokkadachcholai. Total Cost: $15,000Can (about $14,500US)
Keep in mind that without ABDF.org’s help, these funds never would have come to Batticaloa. ABDF.org is proud to have been of assistance and looks forward to ongoing efforts in this area.
