The following are excerpts from the Letter of Understanding between ABDF and the Ministry of Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure with regards to bring teachers to Estate Tamil school in Sri Lanka. It gives a good outline of expectations. We have provided additional information to try to answer any questions you might have.

At several points we mention “English medium.” This means that the subject (math, science, whatever) is taught in English. Thus there are both English language classes and English medium classes. Right now English medium classes in some subjects start in the sixth grade, although English language classes often start earlier. The Sri Lankan government is slowly widening the English medium curriculum, as well as lowering the grade level for both English language and medium classes. The ultimate goal is to offer the option of English medium at all grade levels, starting in First Grade, and to have all students take English language classes. This will probably take a generation to fully implement, though.
